In line with Victorian legislative requirements, Warragul Municipal Band Incorporated (WMB) has developed the following Child Safety documents:
Child Safety Code of Conduct - an integral part of the WMB Code of Conduct
Child Safety Incident Reporting Form - an integral part of the WMB Incident Reporting Form
WMB has also implemented annual training requirements for all appointed committee, Musical Directors, members, and volunteers (hereafter, collectively known as Members) to ensure that all are aware of how to ensure the safety of children and what their responsibilities are in the event they witness, suspect, or have an incident reported to them.
Furthermore, all Members (18 years and older) involved with the band are required by legislation to hold a Working With Children Check. WMB warrants that they will keep the appropriate records and monitor these records on a monthly basis to ensure they remain current. More information on the requirement to hold a Working With Children Check can be found at: www.workingwithchildren.vic.gov.au
As follow up to the Members annual training, and to help ensure these Child Safety documents remain relevant, up to date, and in line with government guidelines, there will be a consultation process where the committee executive invite review and comments from our Members. As well as the Child Safety documents listed above, WMB will also adopt this review and comments process so that other policies and procedures remain relevant and up to date, and help ensure WMB continues to be a Child Safe Organisation.
